"Living organism are consummate problem solvers. They exhibit a versatility that puts the best computer programs to shame."

John H. Holland.

The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent full of doubt.

Bertrand Russell

Geef me de baan die bij me past en ik hoef nooit meer te werken.

Confucius

De kritiek gaat over zaken die te veranderen zijn.

Wil van Sebille

"Mostly, when you see programmers, they aren't doing anything. One of the attractive things about programmers is that you cannot tell whether or not they are working simply by looking at them. Very often they're sitting there seemingly drinking coffee and gossiping, or just staring into space. What the programmer is trying to do is get a handle on all the individual and unrelated ideas that are scampering around in his head."

Charles M Strauss

"If fifty million people say a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing."

Anatole France

Science Linx

My small contribution: Take a look at "Zwermen en scholen".

MIT sketching

Watch this cool video on YouTube!

MIT aims to create a tool that allows the engineer to sketch a mechanical system as she would on paper, and then allows her to interact with the design as a mechanical system, for example by seeing a simulation of her drawing.

Also take a look at this one: Kirchoff versus Faraday.

Coding: A layered paradigm

A well-developed application, no matter how large or small, should be written with maintenance in mind.

¡Ola, Welcome!

Soon more information will be available on my pages. Currently I am still trying to find a nice layout!

Furthermore, it is not that easy to expose useful information, is it? Not being of the exhibitionistic type1, I don’t see much use in putting my curriculum vitae on the net. Also it doesn’t make much sense to copy parts of other (however interesting) websites. Lets not feed the redundancy beast too much, shall we?

So, what is there to put on my pages? First of all, for now, it doesn’t seem very likely to expect large amounts of visitors. Thus, I could use my site as a convenient, private start page, containing my favourite links. I could use it to show private pictures, only allowing subscribers to see them. Or, I could use it as my port folio, showing potential customers (huh?) what I am capable of putting together –as far as websites are concerned...

Well, I’m not sure yet. Just visit this place every now and then and find out for yourself what I think is worth exposing to the virtual world called the internet.

Us and Sailing

Me and my girlfriend want to live on a ship. By this we mean a klipper or a tjalk. These are old Dutch barks. We know what it is like to live on a ship, we are experienced sailers who had a carreer on the Bruine vloot2. Zwarte Valk Ideally, the ship is ready to sail, measures about 25 meters (i.e. 82 feet) long and about 5 meters (i.e. 16½ feet) wide. One of the absolutely biggest problems, however, is to find a place to more the ship. So, any suggestions??

The picture on the left shows one of the ships I sailed on. It is a traditional, beautiful, and fast ’s-Gravenmoerdijkse klipperaak (1889) --sorry, no english available here. And she really is a wonderful sailer. Unfortunately, she is the last of her kind sailing the Dutch waters.
